This is my third year of rock band day camp. 15 is the age limit, so this is my last year. It's really fun though. My other years I played quitar, but now I'm obviously playing bass. It's neat. We get lessons, and you're put in a band with other kids. You write 2 songs, and perform them at the end of the week. So far our songs actaully sound good! It'a kinda tough, bcause we have 2 basses. It's hard to keep the music from getting muddy. But I'm learning a lot.

I figured out GarageBand! Finally. I'm not really good with computers, so it took me a long time to figure out how to hook it up to my guitar, BUT I GOT IT! Now I can record my self, write songs, and practice easier. yay

So last night I was noodling on my normal guitar, and it actually sounded good! I'm so happy. My bass practicing is also improving my guitar. I feel like I'm actually accomplishing something. For the longest time I felt like I wasn't getting any better, but now I AM!

Updates on my World of BASS

So... I've been practicing a lot. That's good. The skin on the fingertips of my left hand is peeling off. It's golly good fun. It means I'm getting calluses! :) A lot of people tell me I'm good for the amount of time I've been playing, but I'd much rather just be good, so I'm going to go practice more as soon as I'm done here.

My church band is going surprisingly well. I thought we would have to go on a break over summer, but we're meeting tomorrow to practice. It's great that everyone is really into it. I was complimented for being a good "Band Manager" which basicly means "thanks for calling everyone, and organizing everything, because I sure as hell don't want to!". I don't mind. It's fun.

I'm also quite happy becaue I got a little peice of equipment I need, so now I can hook my bass up straight to the computer. Now I can record myself without any background noise. YAY!

If you are in a Noise band please contact me. I'd love to learn how to you guys do it. If you don't know what Noise is... shame on you. I just went to a cool little innercity punky concert. The opening act was a noise band. A noise band is basicly electrical noise and feedback blared through speakers. It's vrey cool, and hypnotic.

Thanks for reading! Pete Wentz is hot. Rock on!

It's kinda funny. After hanging out with the hardcore punk crowd, emo doesn't seem to much fun anymore. Punks aren't whiny, they are destructive. Destructive is way more fun.

Last Day of SCHOOL!

EEK! One more day of finals, then freshman year is over. If any of you are bored during the summer go ahead, and remind me to practice bass. If I have any free time I intend on bassing it up. But the TV is contanstly there, and myspace calls to me. Oh dear! motivation from the peanut gallery is always appreciated. Stay cool!

So, I helped start a band and my church. I feel kind of bad. I only go church for choir and the band. I don't exactly believe on God. Actually, I don't feel that bad. I've got some really great friends there, and the little church band is great pratice for bass. Our band's name in Stained Glass. We are basicly all beginners. We have a gig! We are playing in the church parking lot, next to a parade event thing, Grand Old Day. Probably no one is going to come, but it should be really fun. Wish me luck!

Um okay...

Just some things I've noticed, and my responces to them:

Bragging about attempting suicide is NOT a good thing. Attempting suicide is not a good thing to begin with, and it is unrealistic for someone depressed to brag about it afterward. If truely feel unhappy you should try to get help, otherwise it is just normal teenage hormones.

I don't know, but I'm pretty sure your parents don't HATE you. I know they're frustrating, and don't always act cool, but you need to remember our teenage brains are not fully developed, we are undable to make good judgement calls, and can't recognize the emotions of adults. (This is fact... I'm a nerd, I know)

I don't care about how much you don't care about my opinion. If you really didn't care about what I thought of you, you wouldn't say it in your profile ten times.

You life doesn't suck. You have cool clothes, cool hair, and a good community of emo friends. You wouldn't like the preppy cheery people anyway. If you want a really bad life to complain about. Move to Africa, get AIDS, and live on one meal a week. Your lives aren't that hard. Go enjoy it!

Ha... I used to live for school... now I live for bass. The funniest part of this change is that I think my mom likes it this way better!

PRACTICE

I'd just like to say it's painful wanting to be a musician, and yet have no natural music talent. Not that I'm bad with music, I'm more knowledgeable than some, but like I said... no natural talent. Considering I've been takening music lessons since I was 4 I'm not nearly as could be. I have to work my butt of for the little bit of skill I have.

IT STINKS!

But, I don't know... I never practiced my other instruments as much as I should have. Bass is the first instrument I really LOVE enough to want to practice. I try to practice two hours everyday. TRY key word. Yesterday, I only practiced one hour, so I'm going to practice three hours today. I don't know all that many songs yet, so I do a lot of scales, but that's okay. I rather be really good at a few songs and techniques, than have a whole bunch of stuff I can sort of play. See ya!

Emo!
